Welcome to 80's Rail - the railway photographic archive site of Dennis Taylor.
Most of my photo's were taken between 1984 and 1989, recording the everyday operations of the British Rail system. If it had anything to do with the railway - motive power, rolling stock, depots or whatever - it was recorded on film. My collection consists of over 35,000 photographs (mainly black & white) and the aim is to upload as many different subjects as possible to share with rail enthusiasts, modellers & researchers.
If you would like to use any photograph commercially, please drop me an e-mail.

You have some absolutely fantastic photos on here, many of things that I have never seen before. I am really impressed by your efforts. All the photos on here are of surprisingly high quality considering they are not all that recent.

I am particularly interested in your London Underground photos. They are from very interesting angles and have captured the trains really well!

I am trying to capture something similar with my Zenfolio website but in the present day.

There are many wonderful photo sites out there but this has to be one of the best!

Such a wide range of topics but with attention to detail that make browsing a pleasure.

Wishing you all the best with this project.

I will most certainly be using this a reference point for my modelling and research endeavours. It has been well thought and clear to me you have put in loads of your time and effort.

Many thanks,

Redirected to your site from one of your photos on the RPA website. What a find! You have an amzing collection covering diverse rail interests - never has a BR platform brute looked so photogenic! I was active photographing the railways between 1981 - 91, so many of these bring back happy memories for me. Thank you for sharing these with us all.

Excellent archive Dennis. Thanks for sharing it with us. I've put a link on my own Zenfolio site to this one.
